Cheryl Frey is a painter, illustrator, designer and art instructor living and working in Patchogue, New York. Born in Elyria, Ohio to a family of 3 brothers and 3 sisters Cheryl began her artistic journey through her box of 64 crayola crayons (the ones with the sharpener on the back). She frequented the Cleveland Museum of Art once obtaining her drivers license and then drove off to Valparaiso University for more formal training in Studio Art and Art History. After graduation, Cheryl moved around the Midwest and East Coast of the US, finally landing on Long Island, NY. While raising 2 children and still painting, she started a small business centered on teaching cross curriculum Art classes to the public. While Cheryl continues to teach to this day, her own artistic practice continues to thrive. Her artwork has been exhibited in several galleries throughout the Midwest and Northeastern United States. She has participated in the ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, MI and has curated and participated in shows at Artspace Patchogue. Her work is also a part of several national and international private collections. She still frequents museums and galleries and loves to hear others' reactions and stories regarding their interaction with the art they view. Most recently she has been inspiring young artists to pursue careers in the Arts and helping them build portfolios and engage in new creative ideas.
